The video case study “The complexity limit: why the large-scale chemical industry had to give up Excel” (in German) has been published on the YouTube channel of Hawk Intelligent Technologies GmbH. It shows OXEA’s Ruhrchemie plant in Oberhausen.

Shift planning as the foundation of plant safety

Hundreds of complex facilities stand on the 1.2 km² site. The site’s 1,000 employees work in 24/7 operation. Shift planning is the foundation of plant safety, because exact qualifications determine safe operation.

As complexity grew, isolated Excel spreadsheets became an incalculable risk. The plant therefore switched to a professional enterprise tool. The planning software precisely matches plant requirements with employees’ valid certificates and handles nested qualification matrices.

Former product name

The video still shows the former product name HAWK AI Planning. Today, the product is called Hawk IVO Plan. Read more on this topic in the knowledge article on shift planning with AI.
